P/T Producer role!]]>Thu, 14 Feb 2019 09:10:06 GMThttp://surgeorchestra.com/latest-news/were-hiring-pt-producer-roleSurge was established in 2013 with a commission for Sid Peacock by Paul Murphy to launch Birmingham’s St Patrick’s Day Celebrations.  Since then it has grown into a 22+ piece Orchestra with a focus on cross genre collaborations and creating exciting experimental new music with an emphasis on groove.


Surge is becoming an intercultural Orchestra and collaborations have included Django Bates, John Mayer’s Indo Jazz Fusion, Congolese vocalist Didier Kisala with English folk string quartet The Froe, rapper Juice Aleem and Palestinian Clarinettist Mohamed Najem.


Surge now needs to now allow Sid Peacock more time for artistic development by bringingin in someone to offer  administrative and fundraising support to ensure the Surge projects continue to flourish.


With support from Arts Council, PRSF and other bodies we have exciting plans for 2019/20. Come and be a part of them.

Role in Detail:
  • To plan and programme specific projects with Artistic Director, external partners and stakeholders as appropriate
  • To co-ordinate project budgets on a day to day basis
  • To establish, maintain and positively develop partnerships with external partners, stakeholders and funders appropriately and in accordance with Surge policies.
  • To ensure all projects within your responsibility have the appropriate levels of monitoring, evaluation and documentation mechanisms in place for robust reporting
  • To support and drive fundraising for specific projects where appropriate
  • To assist in the promotion for specific projects including the planning and coordination of performances and promotional activities
  • To contribute to Surge’s electronic updates, website, media releases and external articles as appropriate
  • To provide regular verbal and/or written reports to Artistic Director.
  • To contribute to the development of the organisation, the strategic plan, and specific projects as appropriate
  • To undertake general office, administrative, project related and other duties as and when required in a professional, punctual and diligent manner




The post will be for 35 days over a 12 month period at £150 per day.
Deadliner 1st March, 2019.

The Producer will be accountable to Artistic Director  Sid Peacock.
